On September 3, 2024, Easton Suburban Water Authority will begin a project to replace the existing cast iron water mains on the 200 Block of High Street, Holly Street, and Liberty Street in the Borough of Glendon with new ductile iron water mains. The work will begin on the 200 Block of High Street and require the road to be closed to traffic during work hours. A detour utilizing Main Street, Berwick Street, Packer Street, Line Street, and Holly Street will be in place during work hours. After High Street, work will be performed on Holly Street and then on Liberty Street. Work hours will be from approximately 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and the roads will be opened to through traffic at the end of each workday.
The project will consist of four phases, with the first being the installation and testing of the new water mains. Once the water mains are installed and tested, the service laterals will be transferred to the new water mains. The third phase will be the connections of the new water mains to the existing water mains on the streets adjacent to the project area.
The roads will be temporarily restored as the water system work is completed. The fourth and final phase of the project will be permanent pavement and landscaping restoration. This will be completed once the trenches have been provided with adequate settlement time. We anticipate the water system work should be completed by the end of September.
